In a world of 'fake news' and now 'really fake news' I must admit I lose faith in mankind and it's ability to prevail – however when desperate I like to go into "history" and find towers of intellect – no one in the field of economics is bigger – I think – than Milton Friedman…..
Here he is in 1968 pointing out how social welfare needs to be done on the basis of basic income or in his version negative income tax.
His argument are simply beautiful, stringent and to the point – the journalist does an excellent job on trying to "catch him out" but observe how he not only has all bases covered but continue to argue along line of fairness and providing help in a more efficient and human way…to me this is sheer genius.
Please do take the 14:45 min to educate yourself if for no other reason than because the concept basic income/ negative income tax IS the solution to the present too big welfare model.
